The Massachusetts State Police Superintendents Citation was given to retired Capt. Joseph Carbone, retired Det. Henry Ditommasso, and retired Det. David Caputi for their work in solving a 30-year-old homicide that had occurred in Fitchburg.
The evidence was recently re-examined and a DNA match of the suspect was found. In the photo left, Carbone receives his citation, and in the photo right, Caputi's wife and son accept the award on his behalf (Caputi has passed away since the case was solved). Ditommaso was unable to attend the ceremony. Also at the June 5 ceremony were Fitchburg Police Chief Robert DeMoura, and Capt. Philip Kearns.
