ATTLEBORO - Police Chief Richard J. Pierce recently represented Massachusetts at the 2007 Special Olympics Law Enforcement Torch Run International Conference held in Okalahoma City, Okla.
The conference provided an opportunity for 900 law-enforcement representatives from around the world to share ideas and network with others to learn about the movement internationally, and gain ideas and insight for the growing Law Enforcement Torch Run programs in Massachusetts.
The Massachusetts Law Enforcement Torch Run is an event in which law enforcement officials from across the state raise money and awareness for Special Olympics.
Pierce said plans are under way to form a Special Olympics torch relay involving communities in Southeastern Massachusetts in which law-enforcement officials will carry the Special Olympics Flame of Hope through several communities to the opening ceremonies of the Special Olympics Massachusetts Summer Games in Boston next year.
