Hi Folks -
I understand they also have a 6 week course OVERNIGHT for training? Is this still the case?
Does anyone know how extensive the background check is as well? Do they do background on your family or just you?
Wtf are you trying to hide? We do a CORI. That's it. We hired a convicted sex offender and didn't find out til bout 10 years later only after he re offended. Yes it's 6 weeks overnight, it will be a cake walk for anyone who has ever been to ANY sort of para military training before.
Just had my interview today. There will be 3 academy's. The first on Dec 1 for only external then in January for internal and for the 3rd one I don't know. Final candidates will be notified the end of OCT first week of NOV.
The uniformed officers with two stars are Chief Court Officers. Then there are Assistant Chief Court Officers with one star. The suit probably was the regional security Director for that area you interviewed in.
No it's not run by the State Troopers. The Trial Court and other agencies use their facilities. $38K is alright but when you can make out between $69K-$81K with years in. It ain't bad at all. Just think the main reason why folks like the Trial Court is that we don't work weekends, pay holidays, no night shift, just basically a 9-5 jobs. It gives you time to have a side business, go to school, or just more time with the family.
There are blue shirts who in 2 courthouses who work evenings, weekend and holidays. Up until a few months ago they worked overnights. Now that the new CO1 is just the old blue shirt I assume that being on the weekend or evening shift at suffolk spr or bmc is a real possibility for this upcoming class. Suck it up. 38k is not 48 but hey, 98/100 courthouses are m-f 9-5. Don't want it? We don't need you. The last time I went to Morrows office the conference room was covered in stacks of applications of people who would move from the NY border to Nantucket if we told em to.
And no, we're gp2 not 4. That will never happen until a front lobby full of blue shirts gets taken out.
Hi can somebody help here? After reading through some of these posts here. I've come to learn here that after approximately three years of being a CO1 there's a possibility of moving up to a CO2 position. Is this something that happens automatically after the three-year period? Or, if not what is the triggering mechanism for this to occur? Or is this a possibility that a C01 may never have the ability to move to a CO2 position? And what is the process? And lastly if one was to move up to a CO2 position, do they revert back to step one or is there a formula or were they would start at a higher step after being there for that period of three years? If someone could help, that may be familiar with this process that would be greatly appreciated? TIA !!!
The only thing I know there was 135 internals. Externals I don't know. I wish I knew too plus how many they plan on hiring totally. Interviews end next Friday then the waiting game starts to see who are final candidates. Good Luck everyone!!!!
I have a question if anyone has any insight. Why did these positions even get open to the outside if there was gonna be that many internal applicants? Do outside people have any chance at all for these jobs? Why would the court just not promote ACO to regular? They are already there and know the ropes. Ok I should of said I have a few questions, I'm sorry. I just don't understand how anyone from the outside has any chance to get one of these jobs.
It was open to the outside because both CO'S and ACO'S are horribly understaffed. I have heard many different numbers on how many CO positions there will be. There is going to be two or three academies coming up. The first one in December will be made up of all outside candidates. The second academy will then be internal. They are doing this because currently it would be impossible to send many inside people to the academy for six weeks when they are so sort staffed. They cant just promote all internal ACO's without giving them CO training and even if they could that would not help at all with the short staffing levels across the state. If you are on the outside do not worry.
Also there are a lot of current ACO that you wouldn't want to be promoted too CO. A few of them have already been passed up a few times already. But no worries Dee, there will be a lot of externals hired. Final candidates notice go out the end of oct first of nov. good luck everybody
Paid how? I'm not in the running, but I am curious. Since after 40 hours, you should be getting time and a half OT. With being at the academy 24 hours a day, that could add up to some very nice $$$$. Is it done that way or are there exceptions?
There is no OT in the Trial Court. You are only paid up to 37.5 hours. Anything over that would be comp time which is paid time off you can use later. Over 40 hours would be comp time and a half. I am guessing you will be doing 8 hour training days for which you will be paid. Not a 100% sure though. This is the first time the trial court is doing anything like this. Less than a year ago the academy was just two weeks long and you did not have to stay over if you did not want to.
