I wish all the Recruits the best of luck after graduating The Academy! I'll give you several bits of advice...
1. Don't go out to celebrate graduating, you don't want to lose your job by getting a DUI. Trust me, it happens during
probation.
2. Don't start dating other C.O.'s. It can turn in to a real shit show
3. Don't date one of the nurses, how bad in the sack will make it's way around real quick
4. Invest in the retirement plan if you don't already have a good one
5. Most importantly, don't date the fucking Cons!

I just got off probation and haven't looked back! I work with some of the best Sergeants, Lieutenants and probably one of the finest Captains in the Department. If you come in and do your job to the best of your abilities you'll get noticed and be trusted with more rewarding duties. Don't come in and think you know everything or how to do everything. If you need help, just ask. There are plenty of C.O.'s out there that will be happy to help you than see you get jammed up. The money is good and the bennies are still some of the best, I hope to see some of you next week! Best of Luck!

P.S. If you work the Night Shift, invest in a good flashlight...

Great post. And people have been fired either before their first day or for showing up looking like a bag of shit all hungover Their first day.

Listen to your FTO's.
And if you fuck up don't lie and try to cover it up. Just own your mistakes.

Usually people get fired for lying.

Good luck and stay safe.

Peace

Our union attorney told me once that far too many officers get fired for stupid lies. He sees officers take positions where they 100% deny certain conduct. Admin usually eventualy proves enough to show the officer was dishonest at some level in some cases. The officer's comeback is usually something like "well, I lied at first but I will now tell the truth and show that I did nothing wrong". Our attorney said that the sad thing is that in a huge number of these cases the officers did nothing wrong or the conduct is nothing that would have been all too serious. Of course, the game is over once the dishonesty is proved.

And don't be a know it all. Shut up and listen to what other officers have to say. Stay off social media
AND don't date cons, don't bring shit in for them. Use your voice and don't be afraid to tell them NO.
6 through 10 should be DON'T DATE THE CONS!!!

Don't trust management. They are not your friends ! They will always side with the cons.
Finding a good attorney will be helpful. You will find this out once you realize the social workers aka caseworkers are running the institution.

If you want to know anything that's going on inside the institution ask the inmates. Believe it or not they are all too happy to let you know what's going on. There are no secrets in jail.
As far as dating inmates as long as you are a female officer having sex with a female inmate you will lose your job but only get walked off the property. You can rent an apartment in Framingham and when your girlfriend gets released come to the prison and pick her up.

Do your counts , stay awake, don't lug anything for the cons and count the days to retirement.
