A Chicago father who suffered a heart attack on Sept. 27 is outraged his son was given a speeding ticket while trying to rush him to the emergency room.

William O'Neil told the Chicago Sun-Times that a trooper wrote a $1,500 ticket for his son, Michael, even after an ambulance came to the scene to deliver William to the hospital. Illinois State Police officials said they've looked into the incident and found nothing inappropriate.

"If that's the attitude in general, we all have a problem," William said.

"He said, 'You don't look like you're having a heart attack,' which, you know, um, was pretty rough"

- William O'Neil

Asked about the complaint, a police spokesman told the Sun-Times: "Mr. O'Neil's recollection of the events [is] not accurate to what occurred on the officer's in-car video. The officer's conduct was proper and within policy during the incident."

William, 60, had a heart attack four years ago, so when he felt chest and shoulder pain again last month, he told his 30-year-old son, "We're going to have to go to the hospital."

Michael was allegedly going 82 mph in a 55 mph zone when he was pulled over. The trooper walked over to William on the passenger side and asked him what was going on.

"And I said, 'I think I'm having a heart attack. We're on the way to the hospital," William said.

William then showed the trooper his bag of medication.

The cop was a DICK, no doubt, but why did this idiot kid NOT call an ambulance? Does this idiot really think his driving like an asshole will save his Dad better than two EMTs in a well equipped vehicle displaying lights and a siren? Would that be a waste of time?

Lots of shitheads to go around if you ask me, but it's just my humble opinion. I'd call 9-1-1 and figure Dad had a better fighting chance than risking his cause of death NOT being the heart attack, but the guy who plowed into me (or me into him) as I raced like a freaking jerk through the city streets.

We're heading to another part of the city to back up one of our own, it's a decent distance and traffic is heavy. One guy is driving quite diligently but safely, getting there ASAP. He's passed by another one of our guys who nearly wipes out several cars as well as his own. He DOES get there first, but when asked, "So, do you think you would have done him any good if you had been killed on the way or just caused another problem for us?" He tried to defend himself, but wherein the guy driving safely got there only about 30 seconds after him, he didn't have a leg to stand on, and thank GOD he had both his legs.

Common sense was not at play here on anyone's part.

It was my first question - WHY didn't he called an ambulance??? What would he do if his dad's heart would stop half way to the hospital? ... Is there a fear of calling an ambulance?
