Will the chosen few for the 83rd RTT be picked from the old list or a new list? If a new list, will the MSP offer their own exam since they did not offer the eligibility option this past test? or is this another 3 year wait list? any insights will be appreciated.
Just show up to New Braintree next Monday morning. You will blend in with the rest of the trainees and no one will be the wiser. Plus, you get a head start on your classmates in the 83rd. Take some initiative son!
Has anyone heard anything? Will this class be in the next budget? My friends brothers tattoo artist told me that his uncle works at the SPA and word on the streets is that the 83rd will be the biggest class ever run in New Braintree. Can anyone confirm or deny that information?
Any speculation or word if there will be an 83rd RTT selection process later this year or will the next class come off the new CS test next Spring in 2017?
I'd be getting fit and squirreling away money for an RTT to commence later this year. I don't have any confirmed statements however we know that staffing is down, the Governor is a supporter, and I think the academy staff has nothing to do after the summer...
I have no dog in the fight, but that's what I would be doing.
Cross fit is nothing more then a fad. I tried it and was not impressed. Its basically military style calisthenics with cleans and seated rows. Not worth the $200 for 6 classes, if your disciplined, buy a military PT guide and follow that.
They do a little bit of everything. Lots of running/sprinting the first couple of weeks. Lots of circuit courses, weight training and crossfit. Be in the best shape you can get yourself in before you arrive. Make sure the PT you do is challenging without injuring yourself. You pt everyday and if your body is not used hard PT, you will still be recovering from the previous days PT and it will wear you down and you will probably drop out. That's where alot of the drops came from. I thought the DT was well put together, they do plenty of boxing and ground fighting. It's a good baseline to get you well equipped to handle yourself, but just like anything else it's a perishable skill that needs to be maintained and worked on.
New State Police Class line item didn't make the Governor's budget, was vetoed as an amendment to the House budget and didn't make the Senate budget. Not looking good for at least another year.
If you're a glass half full person, it looks like the Senate is trying to push through an insurance surcharge in Amendment 1036 that would eventually help to fund annual classes as needed. Similar program was shot down several times in the past, soooooo I'm guessing this proposal will too.
If you want an 83rd to happen and you scored a 98 on the 2013 exam, you should write your state politicians a lot of letters quickly. Next exam is likely to come in less than a year from now. Don't want that new eligibility list to become active before the hiring process for the 83rd begins.
But...but...what about the 5 extra dollars on the civil gigs I've been writing?...I've definitely wrote enough to buy at least one recruit a new mag lite
fyi for those of you waiting . MSP has started the physical fitness test. 1500 hundred letters went out another 600+ going out next week. The candidates showing up are few and far in between. Good luck people .
If anyone is on the fence about it.... it's still the best gig goin. I convinced a buddy to jump ship at a good job, and go through the process to be hired with the last class. He calls me once a week to tell me how much he likes it, and how he's glad he listened to me.
I agree great gig especially if your young or single meaning no wife and kid. If you have those two and jump ship the possibility of injury is always there and if you can't get the old job back it's a difficult decision .
Very true. For anyone who is planning on making the jump and has a supportive department try asking for a leave of absence. That way you have a good shot of getting your old position back if an injury washes you out.
Not even close to 5k but the way it's going ya never know.
