Unless there's some magical supplemental budget that comes out, the absolute earliest start date of the 83rd would be the next fiscal year or after July 2017. Either way, keep running if you're in contention.....

Word going around the water cooler is June 2017, but that would require some supplemental financing from The Hill.

Yep, if you read the release about it they say they're taking anyone with a 97.90 from the 2013 list

I feel like they are going to have to dip into the lower scores once things get going. Four years is a long time for people to waiting by their mailboxes for MSP to come calling. While some will still take the offer I imagine a lot of people have taken other jobs, moved or just lost interest in going though that process. Plus if the turnout for the 82nd's hiring steps is any indicator, interest in MSP (and policing in general) might be waning these days

    You're a smart dude.

I post the math on this stuff when it comes around... maybe I'm just a weirdo. BUT, there could be some members here who have put a lot of credence into my calculations when I told them, "you're gonna get a letter" and sure as shit, they did.

82nd, I think was about 40%. That's the number of people that will show up with all their paperwork completed to the PT. Realistically now, factoring removals from the process from before, people who got on elsewhere since then... and the general lack of interest in policing right now due to the political climate and the media... ehhhh 31%. Just a guess though. And those are just the ones that show up. Doesn't include PT failures, background fails etc.

Good luck to those in the process.

This used to be known as "the worst job you'd never quit", yet
I wouldn't blame anyone nowadays for turning it down either.

I'm glad my kid gave up on the idea. ONLY good thing to come from the Army screwing his shoulder.

fyi for those of you waiting . MSP has started the physical fitness test. 1500 hundred letters went out another 600+ going out next week. The candidates showing up are few and far in between. Good luck people .

If anyone is on the fence about it.... it's still the best gig goin. I convinced a buddy to jump ship at a good job, and go through the process to be hired with the last class. He calls me once a week to tell me how much he likes it, and how he's glad he listened to me.

I agree great gig especially if your young or single meaning no wife and kid. If you have those two and jump ship the possibility of injury is always there and if you can't get the old job back it's a difficult decision .

Very true. For anyone who is planning on making the jump and has a supportive department try asking for a leave of absence. That way you have a good shot of getting your old position back if an injury washes you out.

20% of people contacted are showing up. Let that marinade for a minute.

I remember the 77th. With 227 people scoring 97 or above, they filled an entire class.

Interesting times we live in... imagine if even I got a letter?!? Would probably signify the end of the world.
