Oh ok thanks for the info. I was contacted a couple weeks ago to see if I was still interested in the process and then emailed them back some background paper work but haven't heard anything since. Does the background check just take a while and I should be hearing back at some point?

    • I am going off last year's hiring process so it might have changed as you know the hiring process for Court Officers is relatively new. Last year I received the background questionnaire, filled it out and scheduled a phone interview with the investigator. Not sure if they are doing that this year.

My buddy just graduated yesterday. 3 judges showed to pin 3 new guys. So much for the system not being rigged

No clue. The Probation Dept just had a test today. My guess is sometime after the next Academy.

I know there has been talk of one some time soon as they pretty much have exhausted the pool of last year's applicants, and don't have enough of applicants to hold anymore pat tests. We still are down in terms of staffing due to upcoming retirements.

That's not accurate at all, there may have been a couple judges in attendance, but only 1 graduate was pinned by a judge.

Does the probation department have an exam every year, or every two years?

There is no set time frame, it is when they have gone through a significant amount of applicants. The exam before this most recent one was held in July of 2014, so that gives you an idea how long.

I have a friend starting this academy on May 8th. He has no idea what to expect. He keeps telling me it is run by retired court officers, which I am bluffing as it is at the State Police Academy... Are the drop out rates high? How many miles do they get up to for PT?

Any advice would be appreciated. Again, not more me but a friend.

If you don't pass the interview do you get an e-mail from HR saying you didn't pass and won't be moving on further in the hiring process?
