R.I. man indicted in year-old Swansea homicide case

    A Warren, R.I., man has been indicted for murder in connection to the Nov. 24, 2012, homicide of Lisa Mello, 51, in Swansea.

    David Sousa, 54, is accused of strangling Mello to death, authorities said. Sousa is being held in custody in Rhode Island on a probation violation, said Gregg Miliote, spokesman for the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.

    WARREN, R.I. —A Warren man has been arrested and awaits extradition to Massachusetts in connection with a murder in Swansea last year.

    The Providence Journal reports that Rhode Island State Police say David P. Sousa was charged Tuesday with being a fugitive from justice in Massachusetts. He was wanted by the Bristol County Attorney's Office on a warrant for murder and violation of an abuse prevention order.
